Joel is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Department of Analytics and Operations in NUS. He is a co-founder of an AI startup that has raised funding from leading venture capitalists and investors across Silicon Valley, New York and Singapore. 

During his 8 years in Business and R&D roles, he has led teams to work on projects with Tier-1 companies across multiple industries in the US, Europe and China. The various technologies developed have won top international innovation awards, were featured in international news publications like IEEE, and received recognition from senior management of the world’s leading companies.

Joel received his Ph.D. and M.S. from Stanford University and B.Eng. from National University of Singapore.
